Work type: This is a permanent role, working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Demand & Capacity Manager to join the Central Control team in the Customer Experience function at Yorkshire Water. You will be responsible for the creation, implementation and management of the Demand & Capacity plan and strategy, using analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling to balance long-term demand (work volumes) and capacity (resource levels).

Where you fit in:
As our Demand & Capacity Manager you will be responsible for managing the Demand & Capacity plan, using analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling to balance long-term demand (work volumes) and capacity (resource levels). You will identify opportunities to optimise the forecast plans, mitigate foreseeable risks to service and make decisions with key stakeholders (e.g. Engineering, Service Operations, Central Control, Field Operations and Maintenance). You will be responsible for leading, developing and continually improving this capability within the Customer Experience function.
You will –
- Lead Demand & Capacity activities Yorkshire Water’s operation ensuring delivery to optimise asset health, improve service, operational efficiency and costs.
- Work with Yorkshire Water stakeholders (Engineering, Service Operations, Central Control, Field Operations and Maintenance) to understand demand and supply.
- Lead, develop, and adhere to the Demand & Capacity principles ensuring all inputs (business, operational, asset maintenance, customer etc) are incorporated into plans, taking into consideration all the supply/demand levers available for forecasting and optimising purposes.
- Lead and manage deviations from the plans in the medium to long-term minimising operational and financial impact.
- Create and deliver reporting analysis on plan adherence to share with key stakeholders to ensure accountability and understand performance
- Influence departments across the business to utilise and drive performance in utilisation, shrinkage and standardised workforce planning.
- Refine inputs to continually improve plans so that the organisation can better anticipate and address future resource and sourcing needs.
- Shape and define the future approach and strategy for this capability, identifying opportunities to improve forecasting and performance across Yorkshire Water.
What skills and qualifications you will need:
- Previous experience as a resource manager/ demand planner
- Stakeholder management skills at senior management level, with ability to influence and build strong long-term relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Experienced in the development and implementation of strategic plans
- Previous experience of delivering results through cross-functional working
- Able to think strategically and understand (and explain to others) complex risk and technical issues
- Able to manage effectively a variety of teams with an aligned objectives
- Able to problem solve under pressure and find innovative ways to overcome complex business challenges
- Can lead a high performing and engaged team
- Experienced in using PowerBI, Excel and a range of IT systems
You will also benefit from having:
- Advanced Excel skills
- Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors
- Knowledge and understanding of asset management processes
- Knowledge of risk policy and process
- Project Management skills
- Previous experience of working on continuous improvement programmes with the ability to improve team performance and development
- Previous experience in statistics, forecasting and management information methods
