We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Insight Lead to join our PMO Performance & Insight team, helping to shape how data and insight drive decision-making across Yorkshire Water's AMP8 capital investment programme. Could this be you?

You will require a strong understanding of data analytics, performance management and data governance, with the ability to provide robust insight, challenge performance trends and improve confidence in the data used to manage Yorkshire Water's capital investment programme.

 

Working within the PMO Performance & Insight team, you will lead the provision of performance insight, forecasting, analytical challenge and data quality assurance to support effective decision-making across Yorkshire Water's AMP8 capital investment programme.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our Data Insight Lead, you will play a critical role in shaping how Yorkshire Water uses data to drive decisions across a multi-billion-pound AMP8 capital investment programme. Working within the Asset Delivery PMO Performance & Insight team, you will lead the development of data quality standards, statistical analysis, forecasting and performance insight that enable informed decision-making and drive programme improvement.

 

You will act as the organisation's subject matter expert for data quality, performance analytics and statistical insight, influencing reporting standards, analytical methodologies and decision-making across Asset Delivery.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with advanced Power BI, forecasting and analytical skills who enjoys solving complex business problems, challenging performance trends and influencing strategic decisions through data-led insight. You will help the organisation move beyond traditional reporting towards predictive, insight-driven performance management, ensuring decisions are underpinned by accurate, reliable and trusted data.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Performance Insight & Analysis: Apply advanced statistical and analytical techniques to identify trends, performance drivers, emerging risks and opportunities across cost, schedule, delivery and regulatory performance metrics.
  • Data Quality & Assurance: Lead the development and implementation of data quality frameworks, standards and assurance processes across the capital programme, ensuring performance reporting is accurate, consistent and trusted.
  • Forecasting & Scenario Modelling: Develop forecasting models, sensitivity analysis and scenario planning tools that support proactive decision-making and optimise programme performance.
  • Performance Measurement: Define, challenge and assure KPI methodologies, ensuring measures are robust, transparent and auditable, with a clear link between performance outcomes and business objectives.
  • Insight-Led Decision Support: Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable insight that supports executive decision-making, investment prioritisation and programme recovery activities.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Work closely with Project Controls Managers, Delivery Teams and Programme Managers to investigate performance issues, identify root causes and drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Reporting & Visualisation: Influence the design of reporting products, dashboards and performance packs, ensuring information is meaningful, relevant and focused on supporting decisions.
  • Digital & Data Improvement: Collaborate with Business Intelligence, Digital and Technology teams to enhance data pipelines, automation and reporting capabilities, supporting the development of a modern, insight-led PMO function.
  • Data Culture & Governance: Champion high standards of data governance and promote a culture of evidence-based decision-making across Asset Delivery and the wider organisation.

 

What skills and qualifications you will need:

 

  • Significant experience leading analytical, business intelligence or performance insight activities within a complex organisational environment.
  • Advanced Power BI capabilities, including data modelling, visualisation and analytical reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, complex datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data quality management, governance frameworks and assurance processes.
  • Experience applying statistical techniques, forecasting methods and performance analysis to support business decision-making.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns, trends and root causes within complex data.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience influencing decision-making at a senior management level through compelling insight and evidence.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for improving data quality, insight capability and organisational performance.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Experience working within the water industry or another regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital delivery or infrastructure programmes.
  • Knowledge of programme controls, project management methodologies and performance management frameworks.
  • Experience of SAP and associated enterprise reporting systems.
  • Experience using advanced analytical tools, statistical software or predictive modelling techniques.
  • Relevant qualification in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, Project Controls or a related discipline.
