As part of our newly established team, our Data Analyst – Pumping Systems will play a pivotal role in driving the performance, reliability, and optimisation of Yorkshire Water’s wastewater pumping infrastructure.  Using detailed analysis of telemetry, operational, and asset data—particularly relating to rising mains across the wastewater network—you will uncover trends, identify inefficiencies, and highlight opportunities for improvement.  Your insights will directly support informed decision‑making and deliver tangible outcomes, contributing to our strategic priorities of reducing pollution risk, strengthening asset resilience, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

As our Data Analyst – Pumping Systems you will;

 


•    Be the single point of contact for the department to obtain meaningful data in a consistent format which identifies performance in full through the wastewater pumping asset base.


•    Provide analysis of areas where performance is a concern, in which catchments, identifies actions to be taken and underlying root causes.


•    Provide consistent interpretation of data and presents in a way that is easily understood by the business.


•    Interpret data and turn it into information which can offer proactive ways to improve our pumping systems.


•    Oversee and conduct the conversion of data into insights that will lead to informed business decisions.


•    Baseline process capability and potential performance with respect to the customer.


•    Lead initiatives to enhance the policies, procedures and business processes employed within our wastewater pumping asset base.


•    Identify new and innovative ways of working which lead to improved performance of asset management processes and systems.


•    Provide process and data advice and support to the Asset Management team as necessary.


•    Develop tools and dashboards for performance monitoring.


•    Work with other YW departments to ensure all performance inefficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.

 

 


What skills & qualifications you will need:

 


•    Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs.


•    Develop and maintains effective internal and external relationships.


•    Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.


•    Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.


•    Experience of SAP job management.


•    Excellent communication skills.


•    Strong problem solving skills.


•    Experience of analysing large volumes of data and interpreting trends and themes.


•    Meticulous attention to detail.


•    A people person who is able to engage effectively at all levels.

 

 


You will also benefit from having:

 

•    Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.


•    Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.


•    Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors with an understanding of wastewater infrastructure and telemetry systems.


•    Ability to work under pressure to challenging deadlines with a background in engineering, environmental science, or data analytics.
