Location: Bradford / Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week). You will be required to travel to different sites in this role, so a full UK driving licence will be essential.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
We are currently looking for a Costing and Modelling Analyst to join our Costing and Modelling Team who specialise in cost estimation and model building. This is an exciting and challenging role, working at the leading edge of the water industry, helping to understand trends in delivery costs, secure funding for future investment and ensuring robust cost and carbon footprint assessments are undertaken during the lifecycle of projects in the Capital Programme. Costing and Modelling team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
You will be joining our Costing and Modelling Team, whose role is to:
Capture, manage and process data from capital delivery schemes used to develop our own suite of cost and carbon models. Develop and maintain a suite of statistically based models covering: Capital Costs (clean and waste), embodied carbon, YW On-cost, Durations, S curves and the development of opex costs. Ensure accurate deployment of models within both Capital Delivery and Investment Planning (PR29 & beyond). Provide support to Capital Delivery, Commercial Services and Investment Planning on best practice implementation of project costing and data capture. Actively support business planning activities.

You will be expected to develop your skillset and experience by working closely with the rest of the team, to progress and develop further in the role using a defined progression plan in cost modelling and costing analytics.
Where you fit in:
As our Costing and Modelling Analyst, you will be primarily delivering day to day project cost estimation activities to support the costing function (within the Cost and Modelling team) whilst also supporting improvements to the wider project lifecycle processes across capital delivery.
- Be a critical part of a team who providing a cost and modelling service to the company
- Provide cost and carbon estimates to influence decision making on multi million pound capital schemes.
- Support our Asset Delivery and Investment Planning teams to accurately develop and assure project costs as part of the capital delivery programme.
- Support the data capture process and development of our suite of cost and carbon models.
- Contribute to systems development to ensure that corporate systems continue to be aligned with capital investment requirements.
- Review and support the deployment of new assets and technologies
- Be able to influence the modelling approach and our statistical methodology.
- Progress in role and develop methods for costing different types of projects for the company
What skills & qualifications you will need:
Our Costing and Modelling Analyst will have a keen interest in water/wastewater treatment.
You will also:
- Be a strong communicator, with excellent engagement skills, able to influence stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Be a strong team player but also able to work under own initiative and be a self-starter
- Be able to form and maintain effective working relationships to leverage support required in role
- Be well organised able to prioritise tasks and work on several different issues at any one time
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and efficiently with large volumes of data.
- Possess strong financial and commercial acumen, with a solid understanding of asset delivery principles.?
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience in a science/ technical/ engineering/ maths related role.
- Be a confident user of Excel for data input, calculations and analysis.
- Have a high standard of integrity and ethics
- Full UK Driving Licence
You will also benefit from having:
- Previous Water/Utility/Construction industry experience (including academic or work placement)
- Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment processes and associated assets.
- Possess an understanding of statistical modelling techniques.
- Understanding of the commercial aspects of engineering contracts.
- Understanding of delivery of capital schemes and construction in the water sector.
- Understanding of water industry regulation.
