Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in Summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future, with a hybrid working arrangement in place, a mix of office, home working and out onsite.
Work type: This is a fixed term opportunity for 2 years. You will be working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday within a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.

Where you fit in:
This is an exciting new role within the communications team. You will provide communication and engagement support to our busy capital programme as we’re underway with our largest ever environmental investment. The capital programme is far reaching and needs to support our team to engage and tell customers about what we’re doing, how it impacts them, and the benefits our investment will bring to them and their community. You will be required to work as part of the communications and engagement team, with a focus on supporting communications for our mains renewal programme.
Reporting to the Lead Communications & Engagement Advisor and working closely with our team, you will work across the programme to advise on and produce, compelling and engaging communications and engagement activity.
There will be a requirement to be involved in the full range of communication activity; from managing day to day enquiries, finding stories, creating content, meeting stakeholders, creating reports to measure success, and support to the business on the planning and delivery of effective communication and engagement plans.
Some of the key role responsibilities include the following -
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues across the capital programme to help understand requirements and prioritise work
- Plan, create and deliver engaging content for our communication channels
- Plan, support and deliver events virtually and in-person
- Create engaging collateral (videos, posters, newsletters, social content etc) that raise awareness about the work we’re doing
- Ensure that all communication and engagement is measured, so that the insight and learning can be used to drive improvements
What skills & qualifications are we looking for?
-The successful candidate will have previous communications and engagement experience.
-You will have excellent writing skills, using simple and clear language that colleagues will understand. You will have the ability to make complex information easily understood and experience it telling stories that motivate and engage colleagues.
-You’ll have a passion for all things creative and with it, you’ll have high standards of communication, bringing fresh ideas to the team and wider business.
-Highly organised, able to work on your own initiative, you will be able to manage your work priorities and time effectively. You’ll be experienced in making sure the right message gets to the right people, at the right time and in the right way and you will have had previous experience in building communication plans, delivering to a deadline and managing a number of projects at once.
-A confident communicator, you will be able to build up effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders. You will have excellent influencing skills and be able to provide best practice advice and guidance on all communications matters.
-You’ll have excellent IT skills, in particular using Microsoft Office packages – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word and Adobe Creative software or similarly experienced in using other creative channels. You will be experienced in event creation/management.
-Previous experience in copywriting, event management (in-person) or technical experience in relation to aspects of communication & engagement activity e.g. video (filming and editing), event management, channel and content development would be desirable. Although, full training will be provided.
