Location: West Yorkshire / Hybrid Working (2 days in the office a week – Bradford – Relocating to Leeds Summer 2026)

We have a number of exciting opportunities for a Commercial Specialist to join the indirect category for Information Technology & Operational Technology (IT&OT) teams at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Commercial team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. As a Commercial Specialist you will provide a key role in the delivery of the Category team focusing on Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management. Working as part of the Category Management function/procurement supporting Service Delivery you will play a key role in contract management at Yorkshire Water focusing on performance commitment delivery, customer experience, and overall business reputation, working collaboratively to outperform.
Where you fit in:
As our Commercial Specialist you will:
- Act as a trusted commercial expert, providing insightful advice and guidance to both internal teams and external partners.
- Establish and maintain robust contract management processes, ensuring clear, accurate, and accessible reporting at all times.
- Drive compliance with Utilities Contracts Regulations (UCR2016), the Procurement Act 2023, and internal governance, ensuring strong audit practices and delivery against contractual commitments.
- Provide expert commercial input on payment applications, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and value for money.
- Lead on change control and contract administration, ensuring governance, transparency, and consistency across all activities.
- Support the delivery of effective supply chain management, working closely with procurement to drive value and performance.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- A commercially driven professional with the ability to provide strong leadership and take a strategic approach to contract management, ensuring best value, performance, and compliance.
- Proven experience in commercial contract management within a fast-paced, commercial environment.
- Experience managing multiple contracts and frameworks, with the ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging and influencing at all levels to ensure successful delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), building and maintaining effective partnerships.
- Experience managing complex KPIs across multiple contracts to drive performance and accountability.
- Experience in providing commercial assurance across financial and contractual elements of projects.
- Strong dispute resolution skills, with the ability to reach fair and commercially sound outcomes.
You will also benefit from having:
- Knowledge of developing and improving procurement processes and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
- A solid understanding of Procure-to-Pay systems such as SAP and/or Ariba.
- A relevant qualification such as MCIPS or a Business Degree.
- Experience within the water, utilities, technology, or wider infrastructure sectors.
