Where you fit in:

 

As our Climate Adaptation Strategy Manager, you will lead and support Yorkshire Water in building resilience to climate change by assessing climate-related risks and opportunities, developing and implementing cross-business adaptation strategies and plans, and managing climate adaptation reporting activities. 
 

This role sits within our Sustainable Business team, alongside colleagues working on other activities such as net zero, social value, and impact reporting. You will also collaborate with other colleagues across the business, including those in our Risk, Engineering, and Programme Delivery teams.


 

What you’ll be doing:

 

•    Lead on identifying climate-related risks and opportunities across Yorkshire Water (including both physical and transition risks and opportunities), assessing potential impacts, and establishing key risk indicators.
•    Create a cross-business climate change adaptation strategy to strengthen Yorkshire Water’s adaptative capacity and work with colleagues to translate the strategy into plans and processes for specific business areas. 
•    Monitor delivery of the climate change adaptation strategy, including providing updates to Executive and Board-level committees.
•    Manage production of climate-related communications, including annual climate-related financial disclosures (CFD) and future rounds of Climate Adaptation Reporting.
•    Collaborate with internal colleagues to raise awareness of climate risks and opportunities, secure commitment and resources for climate adaptation activities, contribute to ongoing initiatives, and drive resilience across the business. 
•    Engage with external stakeholders and contribute to partnership activities to tackle shared climate adaptation challenges across the region and the water sector.
•    Keep abreast of emerging issues, best practice, and regulatory requirements related to climate adaptation.

 
 

What we’re looking for:

 

•    Technical knowledge and understanding of climate science, policy, and legislation relevant to a business context.
•    Experience of undertaking climate change risk, vulnerability, and impact assessments.
•    Experience of developing and/or implementing climate adaptation strategies.
•    Knowledge of climate adaptation scenario analysis, reporting frameworks, and management standards
•    Experience of data monitoring, data analysis, and creating clear management information to inform decisions.
•    Ability to work collaboratively and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results, including influencing effectively at senior levels.
•    Strong written and verbal presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical issues in ways that are accessible to different audiences.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and manage time efficiently.
•    Committed to driving change for the better, innovative and resilient in the face of obstacles, and able to offer constructive challenge.
