Location: Bradford / Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week – Bradford)

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Water Asset Planning team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

The Water Asset Planning Team plays a critical role in managing risks and shaping capital investments across the entire water supply chain—from raw water collection and storage to transmission, treatment, and disinfection. Central to this function is ensuring that investments are directed toward the right assets to deliver the required quantity and quality of water. This involves close collaboration with both internal departments and external stakeholders to guide funding decisions, align with strategic and regulatory frameworks, and monitor progress toward clearly defined program goals.

 

This role is forward-looking, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning for AMP 8 and preparation for AMP 9. It includes tracking and reporting scheme progress to regulators, setting clear objectives for future investment cycles, and fostering cross-sector collaboration to develop a unified vision for water resilience. A key focus will be on integrating water quality initiatives, Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC), and Strategic Resource Options (SRO) into the existing asset base. This ensures that future water production remains resilient, meets customer expectations, and aligns with long-term business strategies.

As our Catchment & Water Production Strategy Manager you will

 

  • The Water Strategy Manager will play a pivotal role in creating connections with both external and internal departments, shaping the future resilience across all aspects of water treatment, including raw water collection, storage and transmission, water processes, and disinfection assets.
  • This position requires a forward-thinking individual who can define and implement strategies aligned with the wider business objectives, ensuring sustainable delivery and operational excellence.
  • Alignment with the Yorkshire Water strategy is an essential aspect of this role, ensuring that capital investment is future-focused and contributing to the Long Term Delivery Strategy (LTDS). It involves ensuring that capital investment across water assets follows a clear plan for planning and investment across AMP 8 and into AMP9 and that the strategy supports the future efforts in maintaining clean water quality and quantity.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Extensive experience in water strategy development, resilience planning, and asset management.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including DWI and WRMP, and their integration into strategic planning.
  • Proven ability to align strategic goals with AMP cycles (AMP 8, AMP 9) and PR29 definition.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Technical expertise in raw water systems, treatment processes, and disinfection technologies.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of delivering complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Understanding of CRI improvement methodologies and ability to address emerging water quality risks.
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
