Location: The role will initially be based in Bradford, with a planned move to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026. The position offers hybrid working, as it is predominantly field‑based, with occasional office attendance in Bradford or Leeds as required.

 


Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

The CSO Technical Assurance Technician team plays a vital role in protecting customers, the environment and river health by assuring the quality, safety and effectiveness of CSO maintenance across Yorkshire.  Working closely with service partners and operational teams, the team provides expert oversight, carries out audits, drives compliance and intervenes where standards are not met.

 


By challenging ways of working and reducing repeat issues, the team helps deliver a safe, efficient and high‑performing wastewater service in a highly regulated environment.

As our CSO Technical Assurance Technician you will;

 


•    Drive high standards of health, safety and risk management, ensuring compliance with Yorkshire Water Safety Policy and Control of Work requirements.


•    Act as a Control of Work Authorised Person, issuing permits and handovers to contractors in line with MP01.


•    Carry out on‑site H&S spot audits and Level 4 audits, including evidence capture (photos/videos), with authority to stop work where standards are not met.


•    Identify, escalate and resolve health and safety concerns, ensuring all accidents, hazards, near misses and dangerous occurrences are reported within required timescales.


•    Provide technical support, coaching and training to contractors and colleagues based on audit findings and identified improvements.


•    Work closely with the Contractor Delivery Team to identify high‑risk or high‑value activities for targeted audit and assurance.


•    Investigate and review contractor incidents, driving corrective actions and a zero‑repeat approach.


•    Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships, including providing administrative and regulatory support where required.

 

 


 What skills & qualifications you will need:

 


•    Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.


•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence, negotiate and engage a wide range of audiences.


•    Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work effectively, delivering results while working collaboratively towards shared goals.


•    Sound technical understanding of the sewer network, including extensive knowledge of CSOs and how they operate.


•    Proven operational experience on the sewer network, ideally gained within the water, wastewater or a regulated utilities environment.


•    Understanding of how individual roles contribute to wider business plans, with the ability to support delivery of key outputs and objectives.


•    Experience working within a commercially focused and/or regulated environment, applying judgement and accountability in decision‑making.


•    A full, valid UK driving licence.
