Base Location: The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement, although there is an expectation to visit sites across the Yorkshire region in addition to spending some time working from the site where your team operates.

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday within a standard window.

The Pollution Reporting Specialist will play a vital role in our Pollution Team, and you will be responsible for ensuring that our regulatory Pollution Performance Commitments are achieved by implementing and improving policies and processes related to pollution prevention and response. You will be the primary point of contact for reporting pollution events to the Environmental Agency (EA) and will work closely with them to maintain a strong relationship.

 

Where you fit in:

As our Pollution Reporting Specialist, you will: -

  • Assess risks and identify opportunities to improve pollution prevention efforts, and implement necessary improvements through the quality of reports, including carrying out periodic audits on data quality.
  • Providing technical expertise to colleagues and Operational colleagues.
  •  Provide stakeholders and external regulators with up to date and accurate reports in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Regular onsite engagement with key stakeholders across the Yorkshire region.
  • Highlighting issues with missing and poor-quality data and deliver targeted training to improve data quality.
  • Support and promote proactive ways of working to reduce first-time and repeat pollution incidents and contribute to achieving performance commitments through quality of data and accuracy of reporting, ensuring timely in-year and year-end reporting of pollution incidents.
  • Manage your day-to-day duties to deliver excellent performance by setting clear expectations linked to business targets, having meaningful performance discussions that recognise and reward the right performance, behaviours, and obstacles where performance and behaviours do not meet expectations.
  • Play your part in developing and implementing the company’s pollution reduction strategy to ensure the delivery of both in-year and end of AMP UQ pollution targets.
  • Be a centre of excellence for the company’s pollution processes, ensuring they are well communicated, understood, and adhered to by the business, monitoring performance against them and continually looking for ways to improve.
  • Drive a reduction in pollution incidents and reactive operational visits by responding to changes in asset performance.

 

What skills and experience you will need

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental risk management practices and regulations.
  • Proven subject matter expert on pollution incidents, preferably in a regulatory or compliance-focused environment.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Extensive experience with YW telemetry and ICOM systems.
  • Expertise in using SAP and Odyssey for data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of effectively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of wastewater assets, including common failure modes and effective solutions.
  • Full valid UK driving licence (No more than 6 points) and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to various sites as needed.
