Distribution Maintenance Technician

 

Salary: £22,879 - £28,599 (depending on experience) + 25 days hols + 8 BH + Pension

Location: North West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire 

 

 

 

Purpose of the role

 

Yorkshire Water are currently recruiting a Distribution Maintenance Technician to join our team on a permanent basis. The role of Distribution Maintenance Technician is part of the Distribution Maintenance Team, within Network Services.  The team is responsible for the investigation and delivery of planned DOMS flushing throughout Yorkshire, focusing on the top DMA's based on the volume of discoloured water contacts received.

 

 

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Some of the key responsibilities you will have will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Undertake detailed surveys to enable strategic flushing of distribution mains within DMA's to minimise future WQ contacts for turbidity. Liaising office staff to instigate operational action plans.
  • Carry out sequential flushing and sampling as per the process.
  • Execute and record all planned flushing activity through desired flow/duration of works required to achieve optimal performance and risk mitigation.
  • Amend schematic/timetable when unforeseen issues arise i.e. highlighted fittings not available on the network
  • Capture data to calculate thickness of turbidity material removed per flush
  • Responsible for adherence to Company standards, policy and procedure
  • Display company values and support Customer Promise

 

 

 

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

 

Essential

 

  • An understanding of the design and operation principles of potable water distribution network assets
  • Excellent IT skills - Excel essential
  • Strong Health and Safety awareness
  • Demonstration of knowledge and application of company vision, values and PC's
  • An understanding of the operation principles of water hydraulics
  • Pragmatic approach and ability to amend planned activities at short notice

 

 

Desirable

 

  • Knowledge of DOMS process and WQ
  • Clean water experience and water hygiene accreditation
  • Knowledge of risk management
  • Knowledge of serviceability measures and Performance Commitments
  • Calm network trained
  • Strong numerical skills
  • NRAWSA accreditation 
  • Toughbook user with Odyssey & Schematics experience

Distribution Maintenance Technician
