We currently have a Jet-Vac Assistant (above ground) vacancy in the Malton, Ripon, Sheffield and Bradford area, of North Yorkshire to join our Wastewater Customer Field Services Team in the Service Delivery Business Unit. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance from our Malton, Rion, Blackburn Meadows and Esholt Wastewater Treatment Works.

 

You may be required to travel to different operational sites across the region; therefore, a full valid EU driving licence, is required. Ideally you will have a clean licence or no more than 6 points.

 

What will the role involve?

 

As a Jet-Vac Assistant, you will assist the Jet-Vac Technician in operating a Jet-Vac but will also be required to work closely with other Yorkshire Water teams on site, to undertake planned, reactive cleaning and pollution prevention works, in a way which minimises impact and maximises benefits.

 

To operate a Jet-Vac in a safe and optimal way, to maintain Wastewater and Energy & Recycling assets, tanks and wet wells.

 

You will ensure Health and Safety working practices & procedures of the Jet-Vac operation are always complied with to ensure compliance with the Yorkshire Water Safety Policy. You will work as part of a team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how your performance links into achieving the team’s wider aims and optimise the outputs of the vehicle.

 

You will ensure all training requirements are met and kept in date to operate the vehicle safely and carry out the task at hand, to ensure you are compliant with the high working standards laid down at Yorkshire Water including but not exclusively, Working at Heights, Safe Entry into a Confined Spaces and High Pressure Water Jetting.

 

You will need to maintain high standards for the sites which you work on and the vehicles which you operate, ensuring it is always fit for purpose. You will need to maintain the vehicle and equipment to ensure its reliability and efficiency.

 

You will have a flexible attitude to your work as you will be working a variety of rotas in the role to cover our working window. Once fully trained in the role you may be asked to take part in an out of hour’s standby rota, therefore flexibility is an essential requirement of this role.

 

Essential skills and experience are we looking for?

  • It is essential that you have a practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors and be comfortable taking a hands-on approach to work tasks.
  • Ideally you will have previous experience gained within wastewater.
  • High Pressure Water Jetting experience.
  • A basic understanding of the Sewage Treatment Process
  • Jet-Vac vehicle operation experience
  • A strong Health & Safety background
  • Ability to find faults and diagnose the root cause of an issue
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems 
  • The ability to be proactive and take ownership of issues, think through problems and work with others to solve them 
  • Good interpersonal skills to liaise with operational teams to complete the required work.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • A full valid EU driving licence (no more than 6 points).
