Salary & Benefits: Salary range £21,836 - £27,295 per annum dependent on experience. Benefits include company car, company pension, 25 days annual leave and performance bonus

 


 This is an exciting permanent opportunity, working full time, 37 hours per week, based in Leeds, although with regular travel to our operational sites. At present there is some home working in the role and we will move to a hybrid working arrangement in the future. 
 

 

 We currently have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our Water Service Delivery team. 
 

 

What will the role involve?
 

 

You will play your part in delivering world class asset and operational excellence by the use of GIS techniques to support effective catchment and raw water management. Through risk visualisation, data gathering, and field activity, you will support the Company’s delivery of effective catchment management, regulatory compliance; operational integrity and resilience, whilst maintaining health and safety excellence.
 

 

You will lead on the integration of catchment and raw water data sets with GIS information for the business and external stakeholders and provide technical support in the development of GIS and related datasets to establish the causes of raw water deterioration and monitor the impact of mitigation. You will support and operate the modelling of pesticide risks for Yorkshire Water catchments and assist in the development of evidence to ensure Water Quality risks to raw water (present and emerging) are understood and managed to mitigate their impact on current and future treatment sites.  You will also undertake water sampling and other field activities in support of Catchment Management investigations.
 

 

You will conduct catchment risk assessments and risk reviews for Drinking Water Safety Plans as part of a Drinking Water Inspectorate regulatory requirement.  Additionally, you will support the development of catchment management strategies by regular review of raw water quality data and assessing trends alongside field data. This includes providing technical data input into the planning and delivery of the WINEP programme.
 

 

You will work with external bodies including the Environment Agency and Natural England - Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF) to allow appropriate action to be taken through catchment management activity by Yorkshire Water & others. This includes supporting catchment stakeholder events – e.g. farmer workshops / agricultural shows etc.
 

 

 What skills and values are we looking for? 

 


The successful candidate will ideally hold an academic qualification to degree level in one of the following areas that are linked to the role - Geography/Environmental Sciences/Land Management. You will understand catchment management and raw water processes and have knowledge or experience of Water Quality matters, including the Regulations, particularly those relevant to raw water quality issues.  You will be able to diagnose raw water quality issues.
 

 

You will be a GIS expert user – (ArcGIS preferred) and have excellent IT and analytical skills, particularly proficient in MS excel for analysis of complex datasets.
 

 

A confident communicator, you will be effective in building up strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will show attention to detail in your work and strive for “right first time performance.” You will be required to write reports as part of the role, therefore previous experience in report writing is key.
 

 

You will be driving to operational sites across Yorkshire, therefore a Company Car is provided as part of the role. You must hold a full, valid UK Driving Licence with less than 6 points on your driving licence.
