Windows Server | IT Infrastructure Team Leader

 

Salary: Negotiable + Pension + 25 days holiday
 
Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter flexible/remote working arrangements with ocassional visits into our offices in Bradford

 


Purpose of the role:

 

The purpose of the Server Team Leader is to provide 2nd / 3rd line support, of the Server and Storage Infrastructure. You will align resources to help support the delivery of the IT programme of work and maintain the Yorkshire Water portfolio of IT services.  This will be provided through the development and management of internal resources, and the exploitation of external partner capabilities. The role will provide a 24/7 cover as part of a standby rota.

As we go through large scale transformation, change & maturity of our IT solutions you will be part of a team exploiting new tec such as Dell VXrail servers, a move to hyperconverged infrastructure, VMware Cloud Foundation, SDDC & vSANS to name a few.

 

What will the role involve:

 

•    Accountable for the management of Server Infrastructure, Storage, System Software, and associated monitoring and analytics


•    Take ownership of major incidents from discovery to resolution


•    Provide guidance, coaching and support to other members of the Server & Storage department.


•    Drive an exceptional IT Support function and capability of individuals within the team through ongoing performance management and development, and the setting of SMART and stretching areas of focus.


•    Understand the demand of Capital work for Server & Storage and resources in your team & external partners/services are in place for capacity and capability shortfalls 


•    Lead the recruitment and selection of individuals, both permanent and temporary requirements, for the team.


•    Ensure the transition of solutions and services into the production environment is right first time and delivers an exceptional customer service. 


•    Ensure that event monitoring is undertaken where necessary and the IT estate is proactively monitored and take corrective action/escalation should service availability become threatened.


What skills are we looking for:

 

•    Experience of managing a 2nd/3rd line support teams, driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets


•    Extensive knowledge around IT Support activities and business processes


•    Strong communications skills, both oral & written


•    Knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies and how best to exploit their use for business benefit


•    Knowledge and understanding of IT service continuity planning


•    Experience of managing and working with external partner organisations


•    Strong organisation and technical planning skills


•    Previous experience in an operational and/or strategic leadership role in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment


•    Experience of the ITIL principles (Including Incident, problem change, capacity management and IT service continuity management processes)


•    Previous knowledge and experience of some of the following technologies: VMWare Product Suite; AD (Multi Tier Domain); SQL Server; Windows Server; O365 Cloud Integration; Storage & Back Up solutions; SCCM, IIS; Cloud (Azure); Managing HP ProLiant or Dell VXrail Servers
