Security Architect 


Salary: £44,131 to £65,377 + £2,520 Car Allowance + up to 10% bonus + Attractive pension + 25 days annual leave 


Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter flexible/hybrid working arrangements including our Bradford offices


Purpose of the role:


The Security Architect will provide technical leadership to a team of IT professionals to steer the process for developing, deploying and maintaining secure IT architecture and governance, ensuring that IT solutions delivered are aligned with Yorkshire Waters policy and standards whilst meeting corporate business needs. 


The purpose of the Security Architect (SA) is to maximise value and exploitation of security solutions within Yorkshire Water. 


The Security Architect will define security best practices in the design and implementation of solutions to drive down risk and facilitate the adoption of standard functionality.  Leadership is a key requirement of the role, providing direction, coaching and development. 


The Security Architect will develop internal strategies that enable Yorkshire Water to evolve its technology investment enabling secure by design practices. They will ensure agreed architectures and patterns are adhered to and define governance standards. As the recognised expert they will contribute towards maximising value of both internal and external resources to ensure optimal solutions are delivered to the highest possible standard. 

 

What will the role involve: 


-    Produce and maintain architectural artefacts to ensure that solutions are well documented and understood


-    Define effective and efficient governance processes for development activities, ensuring consistency with wider software development functions, driving continuous improvement to proactively identify & remove waste.


-    Ensure that appropriate standards, patterns and frameworks are established, maintained and adhered to, this includes GDPR.


-    Develop a network of contacts within external organisations to enable sharing of ideas and best practice 


-    Lead the conducting of prototyping/proof of concept activities to demonstrate potential new capabilities 


What skills are we looking for: 


-    Proven track record of large scale solution delivery & undertaking a senior architectural role.


-    Strong people management skills with the ability to mentor and inspire. 


-    Strong ability to articulate business master data requirements in relation to solution design.


-    Understanding of architectural roles, domains, methodologies and design strategies.


-    Experience of formal structured methodologies for solution design.


-    Experience of undertaking technical leadership for a team of senior technical roles, providing direction and influence to ensure completion of activities.


-    Experience of developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships at senior levels within an organisation (e.g. Directors, Tier 2s).


-    Ability to demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks and metrics from other organisations.


-    Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a dynamic, changing environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.


-    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.


-    Ability to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively to all levels, both technical and non-technical audiences.
