Lead IT Project Manager 
 
Salary: £42,203 to £54,106 + pension + 25 days holiday
 
Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter flexible/hybrid working arrangements including our Leeds/Bradford offices
 
 

Purpose of the role:
 
The Tec Change team consists of Yorkshire Water (YW) colleagues, contract partners, sub-contractors and consultants working collaboratively to deliver capital funded IT changes for the company. 
 
The Lead Project Manager role is pivotal in delivering successful projects and sub-projects within Tec Change Delivery. 
 
The Lead Project Manager (LPM) is accountable to the Delivery Manager and works predominantly within a specific portfolio of change. 
 
They will be responsible for successfully delivering complex projects, or simple sub-projects of work in line with business cases approved by the YW Board. 
 
The LPM will take the lead on successful project and sub-project delivery, and will manage suitable resources, and a variety of stakeholders including contract partners, supply chain, sub-contractors and internal stakeholders across the wider business.  


 
 
What will the role involve:


 
As a Lead Project Manager you will have key accountability for the successful management and delivery of the projects under your control, to deliver to the business requirements including time, cost, quality, governance controls, health and safety and environmental legislation.  


You will ensure that project risks, issues and dependencies are managed in line with business targets and that any opportunities are realised to improve project performance.   


The LPM must be a strong influential manager of stakeholders and be able to create excellent working relationships with our contract partners and supply chain, to assist successful project delivery.  


You will be a leader, confident and assertive, whilst maintaining a can-do attitude to problem solving and directing the wider project resources.  


You will be accountable for all aspects of project delivery including leading the project team, driving contractor performance, and ensuring the right outcomes are delivered to the end user. 


You will be responsible for identifying, communicating and reporting changes. 


You will have an ability to deal with challenges and continuously strive for best practice performance. 


 
What skills are we looking for:


 
We need experienced Lead Project Managers to deliver required changes for our Tec strategy. Considerable experience should be demonstrated by the successful candidate in delivering IT projects in a live operational environment.

You will have achieved APM or similar certification. 
 
You will ideally have a project management background within the Software applications space.
 
This role requires a focussed and driven individual who revels in a challenging environment and has a passion for excellence and a can-do attitude. 
  
You will have a proven track record of project management, planning and financial / budget management.   
 
You will have experience of leadership and managing multi-disciplinary teams through the project life-cycle, and experience of managing large workloads of multiple projects concurrently. 
 
To be successful you must have a strong commercial understanding of and ability to administer NEC conditions of contract, as well as programme monitoring and expenditure forecasting skills to ensure robust financial and commercial management.  You will have a proven track record of budget management and financial performance. 
 
You will have a full understanding of schedule management, schedule network diagrams, work breakdown structures and product breakdown structures. 
 
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences.  
 

As you will be required to travel to different YW locations a full valid UK driving licence is essential. 
 
Desirable: 


Demonstrable experience in Agile delivery methodology
