Lead Application Architect 


Salary: £52,302 to £85,807 + £4,980 Car Allowance + private healthcare + Attractive Pension + 25 days annual leave


Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter flexible/hybrid working arrangements including our Bradford offices


Purpose of the Role 


You will form the shape and membership of Solutions Architect team at Yorkshire Water with accountability for managing a team of Solution Architects covering Applications, whilst driving the vision and roadmap for Solutions Architecture, ensuring the operating model is fit for purpose. 


What will the role involve:


The Lead Application Architect will provide technical leadership to a team of IT professionals to steer the process for developing, deploying and maintaining consistent IT architecture and governance, ensuring that IT solutions delivered are aligned with corporate business needs. 


The purpose of the Lead Application Architect is to maximise value and exploitation of solutions within Yorkshire Water. 


You will define best practice in the design and implementation of solutions to drive down customisation and facilitate the adoption of standard functionality.  Leadership is a key requirement of the role, providing direction, coaching and development. 


You will develop internal strategies that enable Yorkshire Water to evolve its technology investment. They will ensure agreed architectures are adhered to and define governance standards. As the recognised expert they will contribute towards maximising value of both internal and external resources to ensure optimal solutions are delivered to the highest possible standard.


What skills are we looking for: 


•    Leading large-scale architecture teams to achieve a common goal.


•    Assembling teams to address specific architectural problems.


•    Definition of methodologies to identify and mitigate “technical debt”.


•    Undertaking complex architectural challenges working both at an individual and team level.


•    Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at the highest levels in organisations. 


•    Real-life experience of architectural methodologies with ability to identify what is relevant for each given scenario.  


•    Ability to both form (recruit) and establish an architectural function from the ground up. 


•    Production of high quality, visually engaging architecture work that is simple to understand.
