Location: Head Office at Buttershaw, Bradford (Hybrid Model)
What Will This Role Involve?
Operating across all Yorkshire Water companies at strategic and operational levels, the H&S Policy and Standards Advisor is responsible for developing and maintaining YW’s HSE Management System and supporting the drive for sustainable improvements in HSE Management.
Key deliverables include:
- To ensure Yorkshire Water remains compliant with its legal requirements in relation to health and safety.
- To provide competent HSE advice and support to drive sustainable improvements in health and safety performance and culture.
- Develop and maintain the HSE Electronic and HSE Management Systems, including all associated documentation.
- Actively promote H&S Policy, Standards and Procedures.
- Attend consultative H&S forums and meetings, taking actions as a representative of the team.
- Coaching and mentoring Colleagues, Managers and Leaders in H &S
Please note this role will also involve some travel to other sites across the Yorkshire Region.
Demonstrable ability to act on intuition and utilising own knowledge is vital, as the team is small and plays a crucial role in providing timely advice to the whole of YW.
What Skills & Experience Are We Looking For?
Essential
- NEBOSH Diploma or requisite level qualification.
- Experience in implementing H&S Management Systems and obtaining external certification (ISO 45001).
- Lead Auditor qualified in ISO standards (ISO 45001).
- Previous experience of developing and applying H&S Policy, Standards, Procedures and Communication via multiple mediums.
- Understanding of UK H&S legislative requirements.
- Full UK Driving Licence with ability to travel throughout Yorkshire Region and other locations when required.
- Ability to coach, develop and influence colleagues, managers, and senior managers.
- IT Literate; Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.
- Ability to demonstrate confidence in one’s own ability, with an authoritative approach when required.
- Ability to make HSE-related decisions.
- Experience of working with Trade Unions as one team as part of continual improvement process.
Desirable
- Chartered Member of IOSH.
- Previous experience of working in the Water Industry.
- Previous experience on the application of H&S Management Systems within a High Hazard Industry.
- Demonstrable experience of Risk Management within a Business wide context.

If successful for the role, you will be required to undergo pre employment checks that will include a Basic Disclosure Check, carried out through a Third Party Company, prior to commencing employment. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the security vetting process for either a Counter Terrorist Check or Security Check clearance.
