Digital Scrum Master

 

Salary: £42,852 to £50,415 + Pension + 25 days holiday
 
Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter Bradford with flexible/remote working arrangements

 

 

Purpose of the role:

 

The purpose of the Scrum Master is to facilitate the delivery of software using an agile software development approach. The scrum master manages the process how information is exchanged to support the delivery of the IT programme of work and maintain the Yorkshire Water portfolio of IT services. The role of the Scrum Master focuses on providing the tools for decision-making and problem solving using recognised agile processes or ‘ceremonies.

 

The role is specifically to work in one of our Agile Squads aligned to improving our customer experience journey through digital offerings.

 

 

What will the role involve?

 

•    Support a software development capability to ensure outputs are consistent, of excellent quality and adhere to the agreed Yorkshire Water standards and procedures.


•    Drive continuous improvement to proactively identify & remove waste from the team’s processes & activities.


•    Motivate a software delivery capability to improve by coaching individuals or their team through ongoing agile coaching and individual development.


•    Work closely with the Customer Experience team to deliver improvements to the prioritised customer journeys.


•    Facilitate the daily stand-ups, sprint planning/prioritisation meetings, sprint demo and retrospective meetings.


•    Provide transparency on the team’s activity/progress by maintaining an up-to-date Scrum board


•    Forecast the deliverables possible in an iteration, which is based on evidence and reliable source. 


•    Actively sharing good practice agile techniques amongst the Scrum Master or Project Management community across IT to ensure a collaborative and joined up workforce.

 

 

What skills are we looking for?

 


•    Proven track record of delivering software products using agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum or Kanban within a large scale IT function, providing direction, development and influence for the delivery of high quality outputs.


•    Experience of setting realistic but stretching sprint goals and managing performance against them.


•    Detailed knowledge of agile best practices in software development processes.


•    Responsible for managing the scrum process with the co-ordination of scrum teams using Agile methodology  


•    Understanding of sprint planning and capacity management within a technology function.


•    Experience scheduling and facilitiating demos to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process. 


•    Able to form good relationships with the product owner to make sure the product backlogs are in good shape and ready for the next sprint. 


•    Experience of developing and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders 


•    Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.


•    Extensive knowledge of the systems development lifecycle.
