Database Administrator Team Leader (DBA Team Leader)

 

Salary:  £45,032 to £56,290 + pension + 25 days holiday
 
Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter flexible/hybrid working arrangements including our Bradford offices

 

Purpose of the role:


•    The Database Administrator Team Leader manages a team of colleagues to maintain the company database of medium to high complexity. 


•    Leads activities to optimise database configuration and access. 


•    Ensures Database Administrators resolve database performance and capacity issues.  


•    Accountable for database recovery and back-up.  

 

What will the role involve:


•    Lead a team of Database Administrators; Oversee recruitment, training and performance appraisals for members of your team; Train and mentor junior team members on process and technology. 


•    Develop and execute periodic quality controls to verify data accuracy.  


•    Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems 


•    Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes 


•    Provide Support for Production SSIS processes 


•    Install and patch database management software 


•    Participate in projects to ensure database configuration and design compliance 


•    Manage database access and develop processes for optimizing database security 


•    Install, update and manage database applications 


•    Install and maintain the performance of database servers. 


•    Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities


•    Apply relational and dimensional data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations 


•    Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors. 


•    Coordinating database checkpoint frequencies, archive logging, resource usage with programmers and System Administrators 


•    Assist analysts with complex tuning and schema refinement. 


•    Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata) 

 

What skills are we looking for:


•    Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MySQL, and other relational database systems


•    Experience managing or leading a team of Database Administrators (DBA)


•    Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS 


•    Strong knowledge of ANSI SQL 


•    Experience supporting mission critical production systems 


•    Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards 


•    Familiarity with ITIL Framework 

 

Desirable:


•    Scripting and process automation 


•    Experience with Windows Server environments, and Linux environments 


•    Knowledge and capability of delivering documentation, testing and release management principles. 


•    PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
