Location: Bradford / Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week)

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Costing & Modelling Lead Analyst to join the Costing and Modelling team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

This is a demanding and exciting role working at the leading edge of the industry, working close to Asset Delivery in providing expert advice in the application of cost models and securing funding for the future investment programme to ensure a robust approach to costing and evaluation of the carbon footprint in delivery of the programme.

 

Taking a key lead within the team, you will, create and ensure appropriate deployment of a suite of statistically based models covering:

 

· Capital Costs

· Carbon Footprint

· Operating Costs

· Asset lives

· On cost

· Durations and S curves

 

Where you fit in:

 

The core responsibility of the team is to develop and maintain a model set and use it to set estimate costs for project delivery, for costing the capital investment of YW's business plan, the operational and carbon effects and for ensuring that the modelling methodology meets with the approval of OFWAT's reporter's audit.

 

As our Costing & Modelling Lead Analyst you will

 

  • Being a key business leader in the application of costing capital schemes
  • Estimating additional operating costs
  • Challenging contract partners' costs when they are significantly above the baseline estimate
  • Supporting Asset Delivery and Commercial teams in the understanding and assessment of capital and operational costs
  • Supporting the Sustainability Team in the application of carbon volume estimating models
  • Contribute to the development of the Costing and Modelling Team wider objectives and be a lead in key strategic projects that will take the business forward

 

Working in a technical team you will ensure that a sense of reality is embedded into the investment process to make certain that the best possible assets are acquired at the right time and at an appropriate cost.

 

You will have the opportunity to contribute to systems development to ensure that corporate systems continue to be aligned with developing capital investment requirements.

 

You will also influence the modelling approach and statistical methodology.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of costing capital projects
  • Technical, scientific or estimating background or interest
  • Knowledge and experience on applied statistical modelling 
  • Qualified in engineering / scientific / Maths discipline
  • Strong stakeholder management skills including the ability to manage internal customers expectations
  • Self-starter able to hit the ground running and quickly learn new skills and obtain knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to challenge others and understand and appreciate views from other people  
  • Financial and commercial acumen
  • High standards of integrity & ethics

 

You will also benefit from having:

  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of engineering contracts
