Azure Cloud Technical Lead 

 

Salary: Negotiable + Pension + 25 days holiday


 
Location: Working from home during Covid & thereafter Bradford with flexible/remote working arrangements

 

 

Purpose of the role:

 

This person will work as part of an existing Azure team to help drive cloud adoption in the right ways throughout Yorkshire Water working with data science, software engineering, architecture and support teams. 

 

The Azure Technical Lead will have a solid grounding in Azure architectural best practices, security best practices and have a good understanding of CI/CD application development within Azure and Azure DevOps.

 

They will lead the migration to cloud activities ensuring Yorkshire Water has a sustainable, simplified, rationalised and consolidated technology landscape, enabling future technology deployments and associated organisational change to be delivered in a controlled, flexible and agile way. 

 


What will the role involve?

 

•    Influence and support the development of roadmaps within their technology space / discipline.


•    Drive best practice adoption of their technologies and related business services.


•    Own elements of the Technical Design Reference Manual and / or Engineering Specifications ensuring consistency and best practice adoption.


•    Ability to work effectively with other technical specialist, i.e. back-end developers, UX designers, front-end developers, automated testers, BAs etc

•    Support innovation and exploitation of the technologies in their area and support the skills development of others. 


•    Contribute and lead development standards in the defined technology area alongside other Technical Leads and Development Managers


•    Responsible for deploying, securing, maintaining and supporting platforms and components within and associated with the YW Azure tenant. 


•    Facilitate the QA team to provide effective cross platform/browser/device testing for azure based applications.


•    Assist the route to live deployment process and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT)


•    Ensure code is managed with revision control systems such as GIT.

 

 

What skills are we looking for?

 

Essential:


•    Extensive experience designing and building cloud architectures within Azure, using Azure Resource Manager, Azure IaaS, PaaS offerings and services in enterprise settings


•    Hands-on experience migrating services and applications to the cloud and designing DevOps operational processes, deployment checklists, etc


•    Experience and understanding of Infrastructure as Code such as Resource Group Templates enabling automation, and orchestration wherever possible.  


•    A good working knowledge of Azure PowerShell and CLI.


•    Experience designing, securing and deploying web and service-based applications.


•    Working knowledge of configuration management tooling, the surrounding processes and methodologies.


•    Maintain the support ticket queues, ensuring SLA’s are met in accordance with the Incident, Major Incident and Problem Management processes.


•    Work with third party Vendors to ensure that they continue to provide a consistent level of service and are performing to KPI’s. 

 

Desirable:

 

•    Experience working in an agile environment


•    Experience with JavaScript Frameworks (React, Angular), RESTful APIs, JSON and XML formats from an operational/platform perspective.

Azure Cloud Technical Lead
