This is a full time, permanent opportunity, working 37 hours per week between a working window of 8am-6pm Monday to Friday

 

The role is based at Bradford, with a hybrid working arrangement in place, a mix of office and home-working


 

What will the role involve? 

 

 

Developer Services works with commercial developers and customers to ensure any new developments have the correct water and wastewater plans in place. You will play a key role within this team, providing a reliable and helpful service to these property developers and commercial customers. 
 

 

This role sits in the wider Sewer Adoptions, Diversions and Requisitions Team within Developer Services. You will provide customers, internal and external, with a high level of technical advice and support in relation to the adoption and diversion of proposed sewerage assets, whilst maintaining the integrity of Yorkshire Water assets and being fully compliant with appropriate guidelines and regulations. You will be the first point of contact for developers wishing to progress to Technical Acceptance and Agreement for their development sites.
 

 

Some key responsibilities of the role include the following – 
 

-Complete detailed technical assessments and formulate responses following submission of initial technical applications for the adoption of new and existing sewers. Ensure these are progressed through to Technical Acceptance and Agreement in a timely manner
-Complete technical assessments and formulate responses in relation to minor and major sewer diversions and sewer abandonments and sewer closures
-Review camera survey information in relation to the adoption of prospective public sewers, adoptable connections, sewer diversions and in relation to sewer abandonments and sewer closures
-Work closely with Developer Services Inspectors to ensure the smooth transition of the development site from Assessment through to Technical Acceptance to Construction and Agreement
-Provide support, as appropriate, in carrying out inspections of prospective public sewers, adoptable connections and minor / major diversions of existing sewers
-Deal with all enquiries, telephone, mail or email requiring expert technical advice, clarification and application support
-Provide clarity to internal and external customers on compliance to relevant legislation and regulation whilst maintaining professional relationships

 

 

What skills are we looking for? 
 

 

The successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of developments on the sewer network, this includes the principles of connecting to the public sewer, alterations proposed to a public sewer, building over a public sewer, designing a new sewer network and diverting a public sewer. You will have a detailed technical understanding in relation to the design and operation of sewerage networks and pump stations and other associated assets, also including sewerage engineering, hydraulics and sustainable drainage systems. 
 

 

You will be knowledgeable in regards the latest legislation (Water Industry Act) and guidance (Code for Adoption, CIRIA SuDS Manual) and how this influences the work we deliver.
 

 

You will have effective communication skills, an empathetic attitude and experience of providing excellent customer service. You will be able to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships with a range of key stakeholders. You will have good influencing and negotiating skills and be highly organised to meet stringent timescales, with the ability to multi-task, as the role demands. Attention to detail is key and you will demonstrate financial awareness when making day to day business decisions. You will be competent in writing technical letters and associated correspondence and write appropriately to suit your audience
 

 

Ideally, you will hold a HND / Diploma in Civil Engineering or a sewerage / construction based qualifications.
 

 

You will have good IT skills and be experienced in using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Office 365. Previous experience of Yorkshire Water corporate systems including: ICE, Odyssey, AI, EDMS, SAP is advantageous.
