Location: Bradford, Buttershaw / Hybrid Working (Average 1 office day a week) 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.  

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join the Accountancy & Finance team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Our accountants are a key part of how we manage our finances as a business to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.   

 

You will help to deliver an outstanding (efficient and effective) accounting service to the whole of the Kelda group and support delivery of the department purpose, principally by provision of financial & management information for statutory and regulatory accounting purposes. 

 

In addition, you will provide support to the wider team, and provide a high-quality financial service while adhering to working best practices and financial control procedures. 

  

Where you fit in: 

 

As our Accountant you will be: 

  • Responsible for support of accounting and reporting service. 

  • Responsible for support and maintenance of financial ledger activities to ensure all reporting deadlines are achieved. 

  • Responsible for support of best practice processes associated with above. 

  • Responsible for support of financial controls 

  • Ensure accounting transactions are completed to meet deadlines (accruals / journals and financial close etc) 

  • Ensure financial processes are adhered to and they are all documented in a consistent format and level of detail. 

  • Lead and support and/or deliver ad hoc finance projects. 

  • Review and approve the timely and accurate completion of Working Capital Reconciliations (SAP, Excel and Trintech) 

  • Lead and support the delivery of the Business Planning process. 

  • Review and approve monthly audit journals.   

  

What skills & qualifications you will need: 

 

  • Part qualified or qualified by relevant experience to the role.  

  • Ability to work flexibly within a team. 

  • Ability to develop, maintain and leverage value from an internal & external network. 

  • Good communication skills, both oral & written, including the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial specialists. 

  • Initiative to work unsupervised and prioritise in order to meet tight deadlines regularly.    

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a good attention to detail 

  • Experienced, in use of financial systems e.g., SAP 

  • Good excel skills and knowledge. 

 

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1 day in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
